Job Description

AECOM has a position available for a Senior EnvironmentalScientist to join our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) & Air team. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in a career path to Project Management. Located in Germantown, MD.

Responsibilities and skillsets for this role include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Competency in environmental regulatory programs and compliance including:

  • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)

  • Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA)

  • National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)

  • Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC)

  • EHS Auditing

  • Competency in environmental due diligence; must qualify as an ASTM 1527-21 Environmental Professional.

  • Ability to develop manage Phase II environmental site assessments including water, soil, and air sampling and investigation techniques and procedures.

  • Provide technical support for regulatory compliance and environmental due diligence projects, including completion of technical quality reviews.

  • Effectively communicate with all levels of a project team and attend client meetings, as requested.

  • Develop client relationships and assist in business growth with a focus on the Baltimore area.

  • Mentor junior level staff.

  • Manage projects from proposal through completion and close-out.

  • Obtain AECOM Project Manager Certification within 1 year of employment.


Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS +6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time, primarily regionally but may include some nationwide, overnight travel.

  • Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.

  • Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is reqired.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in environmental science or related field

  • 10+ years of recent environmental due diligence, EHS, and subsurface investigation related experience

  • Excellent writing and communication skills is a must.

  • Client facing experience.

  • Project management experience

Offered rate of compensation Maryland locations only will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $120,000.
