AECOM Mid-Level Geologist in Germantown, Maryland

AECOM is actively seeking a Mid-level Geologist or engineer for employment in the Arlington, VA office to be a task leader for a variety of environmental projects (i.e., Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Remedial Design, and Implementation of Remedial Actions) for both Private and Federal sector clients with a primary focus on projects involving PFAS or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. PFAS are a set of emerging contaminants for which AECOM has a significant backlog of work and we foresee continued growth this area. This work will offer you the chance to be in a leadership position of this emerging market. The successful candidate will have at a minimum a BS in Geology or Engineering with a successful work history of environmental investigation and remediation projects primarily for the DoD. Experience in working on PFAS related projects will be a discriminator for this position. A minimum of 4 years’ experience within the consulting industry demonstrating technical leadership in conducting remedial investigations and design. Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Limited field work may be required including oversight of subcontractors. Anticipated division of job-related tasks is about a 90/10 percent split between office and field work.
This position requires excellent skills in written and spoken communication (including polished client presentation skills), organization, time management, and an individual who thrives in a team-oriented environment. Duties may include the following dependent upon the candidate’s qualifications: project and task management, client interaction, proposal writing, cost estimating, remedial systems design, overseeing implementation/construction of remedial actions, technical report writing, and mentoring. Qualified candidates must be comfortable with periodic travel.

Ability to travel 10%
Master’s Degree in Engineering or Geology
Geologist in Training or Professional Geologist registration
Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer registration
Experience with specialized software (e.g., EVS, ModFlow, RACER Cost Estimating, CADD, GIS) and building complex databases
Experience investigating sites with emerging contaminants (specifically PFAS)
