Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a Graphic Designer to join our Strategic Communications Services group which supports the U.S. East Region and its clients in all business lines, including water, environment, and transportation. Strategic Communications Services functions like a communications agency within AECOM, managing communications projects for federal, state, local, and private sector clients in a variety of industries, including sustainability, disaster resilience, and emergency management. The position will be based out of our Germantown, MD office, but the ideal candidate can be located in any of AECOM East Coast offices. This position will require the ability to develop a range of graphic outputs to communicate concepts and ideas and the ability to lay out and illustrate reports, presentations, and other deliverables. Skills ranging from concept design to web- and print-ready file package production will be needed.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Apply creativity in designing a range of end products including reports, brochures, presentations, infographics, and other media to support planning and engineering projects.
Create and produce sophisticated graphic artwork. Stay abreast of industry trends and concepts to inform the techniques best suited for desired visual effects in conformance with specified branding standards.
Re-imagine complex ideas/images to communicate the message in an understandable and engaging format for the target audience.
Be able to prepare accessible/508-compliant documents that require very minimal remediation by a tester.
Ensure that projects are completed with high quality and on schedule.
Understand general concept of costs, process control, quality of product and scheduling.
Prepare labor estimates for design assignments.
Coordinate across team to brainstorm ideas and balance workload.
Devise options for client products based on sometimes limited information.
Engage with clients as a professional consultant to discuss client needs and design options.
Be able to design within various client branding specs and create client templates.
Contribute to the development of new concepts, graphics standards and templates, and improved processes and workflow systems.
Perform well with moderate to limited oversight.
Perform work that is varied and requires the application of sound professional judgment, using independent analysis on details of work with some evaluation, originality, and ingenuity.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS in Graphic Design or related degree or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Minimum 4 years of related experience
Demonstrated high-level skills in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud products (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro) as well as Microsoft Office apps.
Proven experience preparing accessible/508-compliant products in InDesign and PowerPoint
This position requires candidates to submit an online portfolio of representative design work when submitting application.
Preferred Requirements
- Proficiency in creating interactive and/or web-based products and/or modifying traditional products to support web-based platforms.
