Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Environmental Project Manager for our Germantown, MD office. The primary work location is Germantown, Maryland, but with 20 offices throughout DC Metro, Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia, we will consider excellent candidates interested in our other office locations. Other locations in the southeastern US may also be considered. The successful applicant will join a network of existing AECOM NEPA and Impact Assessment and Permitting (IAP) specialists across the US, and will have the resources of more than 3,500 regional staff available to assist in project delivery.

Responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to:

  • Develops, manages, and delivers NEPA, natural resources, and cultural resources consulting services services to the US Navy and other Federal customers

  • Manages and performs consulting projects to scope, schedule, and budget, learning and applying AECOM’s project management systems and software

  • The candidate will accelerate through AECOM’s in-house Project Management certification program within the first year of employment

  • Specific and established experience in providing NEPA and related consulting services to the US Navy in multiple locations, including on-shore and off-shore Proposed Actions and associated analyses

  • Coordinates, manages, and directs project field and data collection efforts (e.g., cultural resources, natural resources, wetlands)

  • Develops, manages, and deliver sbusiness strategy and tactics, high-quality proposals, interdisciplinary teams, and documents and report deliverables

  • Perform sclient visits and field activities that require work outside the office and overnight travel

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Ecology, Natural resources, Wetlands management, Geology, Acoustics, Aviation planning, other planning, or an earth science-related field

  • 10+ years of experience in related field, preferably NEPA consulting to the USAF, ANG, and other Federal clients

  • Specific and established experience in providing NEPA consulting services to the USAF, ANG, and/or USAFR in multiple locations

  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and teams to scope, schedule, and budget

  • Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written (writing sample requested)

  • Solid report writing and organizational skills

  • Strong working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point

  • Organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required

  • Position requires some travel

  • Self-motivated, driven, and hard working

  • Experience working in a fast-paced consulting environment

  • Strong experience with NEPA (and Natural/Cultural Resources Management), including ability to manage projects, interdisciplinary teams, and workload, as well as interface successfully with Clients

  • Demonstrated proposal-writing skills, including major (SF330) and minor (Task Order) Proposals

  • Demonstrated ability to market and win work successfully and effectively

  • Familiar with Federal, notably including Department of Defense (DoD), NEPA and Natural/Cultural Resources requirements and processes

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in relevant field

  • 15+ years industry experience

  • 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training

  • US Red Cross First Aid/CPR training

  • Project management experience

  • Proposal management experience

  • Professional certification(s)

  • Established relationships with US Navy and other Federal customers

  • Ability to assist in the development a successful Federal Environmental Planning market practice, resourced for delivery by existing AECOM assets

  • Prior military experience (US Navy) is preferred

  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance is preferred
