AECOM Entry Level Environmental Scientist in Germantown, Maryland

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Environmental Scientist to be based in Germantown, MD.

This position is expected to begin in the First Quarter of 2022.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform hazardous building materials surveys (asbestos, lead paint, etc.)

  • Prepare the associated survey reports

  • Perform abatement oversight

  • Perform the work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

  • Perform work in both the field and office, and be able to travel out-of-town for durations ranging from one week to three months, as needed

  • Assist with other EHS compliance projects (i.e., site assessments, subsurface investigations, etc.) as a secondary responsibility and as needed based on workload

  • Tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a range of weather conditions

  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift objects up to 50lbs

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or relevant environmental discipline

  • Due to the nature of the work performed, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Valid U.S. driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to interact with architects and engineers on fast-paced building renovation designs requiring the development of asbestos/building hazardous materials program requirements, drawings, specifications, and design narratives.

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training

  • EPA AHERA Asbestos Inspector Certification

  • EPA Lead Inspector certification

  • Experience in CADD or GIS

  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; extremely proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multi-tasking skills

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities

Additional Information:

  • Sponsorship is not available for this position

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position

  • Travel out-of-town for durations ranging from approximately one week to three months is required. Travel will vary greatly and depend on the workload/projects at any given time.

  • Requires entrance into the AECOM Medical Monitoring Program which includes initial and annual physicals and may include client-required drug screens.
