Position Title Accounting Specialist - Part Time

AECOM is seeking a part-time Accounting Specialist to be based in our Germantown, MD -or- Chantilly, VA offices!
This position is expected to work an estimated 20 hours / week.
Work schedule will be developed for the mutual benefit of the business group and our vital new employee.
This position joins a diverse and thriving finance team of local and remote professionals. Under general supervision, the Accounting Specialist provides support to more experienced personnel by performing routine accounts payable and project accounting support , primarily:
Receive, code & process supplier invoices
Input, track and report via project vendor invoice database
Liaise with Procurement function on supplier related invoice and payment matters
Review project financial results, EACs, and entity financial statements for accuracy and completeness
Perform ad hoc financial analysis
The ideal candidate demonstrates the ability to learn quickly, adapt to shifting priorities, and deliver correct, concise, and consistent results.
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a business related program -or-
Completion of some undergraduate level Finance courses is strongly preferred.

High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
Professional accounting experience, or demonstrated combination of education and experience.
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
This position may require a valid Driver’s License.
This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.
Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other AECOM, customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.
Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings and presentations.
Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.
Requires some moving of light to medium weight materials into desks, filing cabinets and other storage locations.
Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
- Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or a related program.
Two years of accounting work experience related to accounts payable, general ledger, and financial analysis.
Experience navigating Costpoint, Cognos, or a similar ERP system.
- Must be willing to work overtime when required.
