Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful incumbent will be reporting to the AECOM Africa Oil and Gas Director.
Mechanical Engineering on the design of oil and gas piping & pipeline systems, pumps, compressor, metering and pressure reduction stations, aviation fuel systems and fire systems.
Work in the capacity of the responsible Professional Engineer on oil and gas projects.
Knowledge of 3D modelling, including model development and supervision of model development and model reviews.
Knowledge and understanding of safety engineering processes on oil and gas projects, including HAZOP, SIL, HAZID, QRA studies etc.
Development and oversight of development of design drawings, P&ID’s, isometrics, layouts, equipment lists, data sheets, specifications, bills of quantities and design calculations.
Pipe stress analyses.
Experience in construction projects, including quality oversight on design compliance.
Experience in concept and feasibility studies.
Use of international and local design standards and codes of practice;
Interface of designs with other disciplines e.g. civil, structural, electrical, control and architectural;
Interfacing with suppliers of mechanical equipment;
Project management on oil and gas projects, including setting up of budgets, project resourcing and management of projects budgets and profitability.
Quality assurance (office, factory and site)
Safety and environment;
Lead a mechanical engineering team, provide technical training and mentorship to less experienced mechanical engineers;
Experience in the development oil and gas strategies, proposals and bids for oil and gas projects. Leading of bids and proposals for small to medium sized projects.
Client development and key client maintenance
Work related experience required (including specific skills or abilities to do the job):
Minimum 8 + years’ experience within a consulting engineering environment;
Proficiency in the following software will be an advantage:
AutoCAD and 3D modelling software.
Stress analyses software.
MS Project or Primavera.
Hydraulic Modelling software.
Independent worker, deadline orientated, committed and driven individual, able to lead and support a professional team.
Preferred skills and Qualification:
BEng Mechanical Engineering. Post graduate qualification will be an advantage.
