Job Summary

AECOM’s Water Infrastructure Team in Ireland is looking for a highly driven Principal Civil Engineer to provide regional technical leadership in their Galway Office.

Working with a well-established multi-disciplinary will be involved in various design stages of water and wastewater utility projects including feasibility, preliminary and detailed design and construction support this role will see you contributing to, and leading projects throughout Ireland. Clients mainly include utilities, industry and local authorities

You will be responsible for working with internal and external clients, in an effort to cross sell our service capabilities. You will play an active role in contributing to reports and tenders, and will develop your Project Management skills and commercial acumen.

Job Duties:

  • Project management of water and wastewater utilities projects including planning, control and monitoring from feasibility to detailed design phase.

  • Lead the design delivery of water and wastewater utilities design including networks, treatment works, hydraulics design and ensuring the production of quality deliverables.

  • Carry out design review of utilities design work

  • Multi-level liaisons with clients, government authorities, contractors, suppliers.

  • Preparation of project budget & programme.

  • Produce project reports for client and internally reporting requirements.

  • Lead and mentor a small team of engineers and technicians with line manager responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

Specific Skills Required :

  • Previous experience in water engineering

  • Good working knowledge of either NEC/FIDIC/GCC suite of contracts.

  • Experience in a role which involved client management responsibilities.

  • You will require strong oral and written communication skills;

  • Demonstrated time management and organisational skills;

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, and the ability to contribute to bid development;

  • Ability to travel for site visits (day trips and longer stays).

  • Accustomed to working at the highest levels of HSSE compliance at all design stages

  • Full driving licence

Preferred Qualifications

  • You will hold a BSc or BEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent

  • You will be chartered with a relevant institution (e.g ICE or CIWEM) or close to gaining chartership
