Job Summary

AECOM has an immediate opening for a Shipping and Receiving Clerk in Department - CIPBO at Fort Polk, LA.

  • Identifies, examines, classifies, accepts, rejects, and disposes of material as per regulations.

  • Performs clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping goods of the establishment in which employed and receiving incoming shipments

  • Visual examination or use of measuring devices and techniques may be performed under mentoring assistance of senior personnel.

  • Able to use basic processes of inspection/examination procedures for material.

  • Able to read specifications and photographs as/if required in DLA contract.

  • Able to use blueprints, schematics, etc., under mentoring of senior personnel.

  • Load material on and off of skids, pallets, stands.

  • Prepare labels as required.

  • Able to prepare basic reports.

  • Operate tools and equipment in performance of duties.

  • Receive data from and input data to automated systems in performance of receiving/shipping duties.

  • May operate material handling equipment as assigned and hold appropriate license.

  • Count, weigh, record data, apply tags and labels.

  • May direct and coordinate the activities of other workers engaged in handling goods to be shipped or being received.

  • Follows established guidelines for day-to-day, routine tasks and receives specific guidance from supervisor or other officials in handling unusual, non-routine problems.

  • Able to make preventive maintenance adjustments to related equipment.

  • Verifying that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents.

  • Insuring that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles, and preparing and keeping records of goods shipped, e.g., manifests, bills of lading.

  • Verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records.

  • Checking for damaged goods, insuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment, and preparing and keeping records of goods received.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident

  2. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.

  3. High school diploma or equivalent.

  4. Minimum of three (6) months of General Clerk functions, either in the military services or in commercial applications

  5. Knowledgeable of governing supply systems/programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals or other established guidelines

  6. Ability to work in GSS-Army

  7. Must have or be able to obtain licenses/certifications as needed to perform duties.

  8. Must have a valid and current state driver’s license.

  9. Must be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle

  10. May be required to obtain and maintain a forklift license

  11. Must be able to complete paperwork associated with the position as required

  12. Must be able to work in a fast paced, complex environment

  13. Must be able to read and understand Technical Manuals, Technical Bulletins, Army Regulations and Department of the Army Pamphlets

  14. Must possess basic computer skills

  15. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  16. Must have an ability to meet physical demands and pass any related medical examination requirements required to perform daily assigned tasks

  17. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

  18. May need the ability to obtain and maintain a government Common Access Card (CAC)

  19. Position may require travel.

  20. Class D license a plus

  21. Ability to work in a team environment

  22. Other duties as required for mission

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with U.S. Army combat and tactical equipment preferred.
