Job Summary

AECOM is seeking and Electrical Engineer IV to be based in our Ft. Mill, SC location:

Typical responsibilities:

  • Under general direction, completes engineering assignments of moderate to advanced complexity.

  • Has an advanced level of understanding within a specific discipline.

  • Fully understands and assists with the preparation of project scope within a specific discipline.

  • Fully versed with and can check the work sequence, general content and the methods used to generate specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services or construction within a specific discipline.

  • Fully versed with the process of preparing and checking of calculations within a specific discipline.

  • Able to learn and use basic CAD sketching tools.

  • Can read and understand construction drawings.

  • Fully versed in the collection and/or evaluation of data and information regarding technical and economic factors including physical, chemical, environmental, maintenance, operational, regulatory, constructability, and/or schedule factors relating to a specific subject within a discipline.

  • Fully understands the use of requisitions and the role of materials management.

  • Reviews and advises on purchase orders and subcontracts.

  • Fully understands and reviews interdisciplinary vendor documents.

  • Assists with the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and can monitor them to aid in evaluating budget limitations.

  • Takes the lead on estimating tasks and performs material take-offs for a specific discipline.

  • Has an advanced level of knowledge of discipline’s material costs and of cost and forecasting.

  • Understands the planning and scheduling of engineering tasks within a specific discipline.

  • Understands the project change control process and can identify a potential change.

  • Has an advanced level of knowledge of discipline’s equipment and material lists.

  • May provide technical guidance to less experienced engineering staff.

Minimum Requirements


Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent education) in Electrical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.


  • 3 years of experience required.

  • Candidate must be able to obtain unescorted access into a nuclear power plant.

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of Nuclear power plant engineering/design experience or equivalent

  • Must be knowledgeable in preparing engineering change packages including: preparation of task problem and solution statements; preparation of design inputs, evaluation of the change against the plant design inputs; determining and assessing applicable Operating Experience; identification of affected documents & drawings; preparation of installation package including installation requirements, parts list, & test requirements; preparation of risk assessment for the EC;

  • Must be able to perform electrical auxiliary system calculations/analyses (load, short circuit and voltage drop calculations) be familiar with using such software tools as ETAP,SKM Powertools or PSS/E

  • Very familiar with the preparation and execution of project scope documents for the electrical discipline

  • Proficient in developing wiring/physical electrical modification details of existing power distribution systems

  • Leads the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and can monitor the effect of these on the budget

  • Understands the project change control process and can identify potential changes

  • Is fully versed in updating and maintaining project schedules and resource tools

Due to the nature of the work, candidate must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • FE(EIT) certification

  • Strong written/verbal communication ability

  • STS (Safety Trained Supervisor) certification is a plus

  • Project Management Professional(PMP) certification through the Project Management Institute (PMI) is a plus

  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with Power System focus

Additional Information:
