AECOM Millwright Journeyman (Conveyor Belt Technician) in Fort McMurray, Alberta

Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking Conveyor Belt Technicians (Millwright Journeyman) to join our team at a client location in Northern Alberta for permanent opportunities.

Conveyor Belt Technicians will be expected to install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot conveyor belts in Oil and Gas facilities. They complete but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Read diagrams, schematic drawings, and service manuals to determine work procedures

  • Operate rigging equipment and dollies to place heavy machinery and parts

  • Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances

  • Align and test equipment, and make any necessary adjustments

  • Perform predictive and operational procedures

  • Repair or replace defective parts

  • Service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • May do some tack welding (a weld that is adequate in size to temporarily hold components in place until it can be completely welded by a registered apprentice welder or a journeyman welder) and fabrication as well as maintain an inventory of replacement parts

  • Conveyor component/belt inspection

  • Installation and maintenance of conveyor belts

  • Conveyor belt replacement

  • Belt splicing

  • Belt hot patches

Conditions of Employment for this position are:

  1. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Background Check policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, the role must complete a satisfactory pre-employment Background Check. This may consist of all or a combination of the following: Canadian Criminal Record check, an Employment Verification and/or an Education and Accreditation Verification.

  2. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Alcohol & Drug (A&D) policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company's Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM - O&G Business Unit.

Minimum Requirements

  • Certified Millwright Journeyman and/or holds a valid recognized credential

  • Previous experience maintaining/repairing Conveyor Belts in an Oil and Gas Facility

  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09 or 2020) Certification or Petroleum Safety Training (PST)

  • Fall Protection (OSSA issued ticket is the general requirement)

  • Confined Space Entry (CSE)

  • Valid Government Issued Identification
