Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Planner, Millwright to be based at our CNRL Albian location in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

This position provides the tools and systems necessary to effectively and proactively manage, control, and report on cost and schedule for concurrent projects throughout the organization.

May include the following responsibilities:

  • Services include planning, cost and schedule (work breakdown structure) metrics and tools, collecting performance data (installed quantities, expended labor hours, and other progress measurements for direct hire and subcontract work), tracking data (daily cost compilation and monitoring), analyzing (earned value, productivity and risk analysis), and reporting.

  • Identifies and tracks all changes or potential changes to the project scope, ensuring estimates of cost changes and schedule impact are given visibility with the client and project management.

  • Integrates cost and schedule data and reporting with the company’s accounting and management information systems to facilitate meeting company performance and financial goals.

  • May also be involved in change control management, document control management, and critical path method network analysis.

  • Demonstrates consistency and utilizes clear judgment.

  • Works toward alignment of customer and company objectives.

  • Understands financial terminology and measures.

  • Recognizes financial impact of various project actions.

  • Assists in analyzing and using schedule data to identify key project issues.

  • Logically organizes the workflow and makes judgments on durations and resources to accomplish the work.

  • Able to identify and assist in analysis of project schedule variances.

  • Collects and updates data and updates and produces scheduling reports.

  • Assists in the development and maintenance of WBS and helps insure that project coding is effectively used for all cornerstone applications.

  • Able to use drawings and specifications for schedule development.

  • Able to develop CPM schedule logic. Extensive familiarity with the cornerstone scheduling system and ability to develop logic for elements of the engineering, procurement and construction process.

  • Familiar with construction contracting and the scheduling implications of contract terms.

  • Assists in tracking subcontractor performance.

  • Knowledgeable of scope control and change management and associated implications to project scheduling. Knowledgeable in earned value methodology.

  • Responsible for gathering and assembling data for schedule updating.

  • Measures progress and reviews schedule performance.

  • Supports monthly report preparation.

  • Assists with creating and maintaining the baseline schedule.

  • Supports cost analysis function through cross training.

  • Participates in planning and scheduling meetings to gain insight to planning and scheduling issues.

  • Gathers data for procedure development.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, business or related field, or demonstrated equivalent and related experience.

  • CSTS (Construction Safety Training Systems).

  • This position will be required to drive a vehicle on behalf of AECOM and therefore will require the candidate to submit a satisfactory driver's abstract for review.

  • Previous mechanical planning experience/background in the Millwright trade.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

  • Entrants to this position require 4 years of experience in engineering, procurement and construction projects or operating industrial facilities in a planning and scheduling position.
