AECOM Electrician Journeyman in Fort McMurray, Alberta

Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking an Electrician Journeyman to join our SUNCOR Firebag project team for the 2021 Spring Turnaround Season near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a Temporary position on a 6/1 shift rotation unless otherwise specified.

  • Travel: Charter flights provided from Calgary and Edmonton

  • Accommodation: Camp accommodation will be provided to all workers

Electricians install, alter, repair and maintain electrical systems designed to provide heat, light, power, control, signal or fire alarms for all types of buildings, structures and premises.

Electrician Journeyman will be expected to do but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Be able to take directions, and receptive to training and mentoring

  • Expertly identify and able to proficiently install almost all material components

  • Expert conduit skills

  • Expert with circuitry planning and installations

  • Expertly read and comprehend drawings and specifications

  • Expert control systems planning and installation

  • Expert tool usage, both personal (personal tools minimum listed below) and supplied:

  • Tool pouch

  • Side cutters

  • Wire strippers

  • Philips screwdriver

  • Hacksaw

  • Stakon pliers

  • Linesman pliers

  • Water pump pliers

  • Chanel locks

  • Tape measure

  • Needle nose pliers

  • #6 screwdriver – Robertson

  • #8 screwdriver – Robertson

  • Terminating screwdriver

  • Small flat screwdriver

  • Large flat screwdriver

  • Knife

  • Level

  • ½ - 1 ¼ KO cutters

  • Multi-meter

  • Proficiency in ARC Flash awareness

  • Mentor junior apprentices

Conditions of Employment for this position are:

  1. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Background Check policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, the role must complete a satisfactory pre-employment Background Check. This may consist of all or a combination of the following: Canadian Criminal Record check, an Employment Verification and/or an Education and Accreditation Verification.

  2. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Alcohol & Drug (A&D) policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company's Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM - O&G Business Unit.

Minimum Requirements

  • Provincial Journeyman or Red Seal Certification required

  • Previous Maintenance Services experience required (e.g. Steady state, Turnaround, Shutdown, Outage, etc.)

  • Able to climb ladders, work at heights, and carry up to 50lbs

  • Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or BSO

  • CSTS - Construction safety ticket 09 or 2020, or WHMIS 2015

  • Standard First Aid

  • OSSA equivalent Fall Protection

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract

  • Other safety ticket(s) and orientation(s) required, as per the project team

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSSA equivalent Confined Space Monitor/Entry

  • OSSA equivalent Aerial Work Platform/EWP

  • H2S Alive
