AECOM Highway/Roadway Department Manager in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Job Summary

The Transportation Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Highway/Roadway Department Manager for immediate employment based in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The position will provide technical and leadership guidance for our group of transportation engineering professionals, continue our high-quality client relationships and project wins. The technical emphasis of the group is a roadway and civil design projects, typically in urban and transit-oriented locations. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established design-oriented career in a variety of transportation and civil works projects. Strong emphasis will be placed on leadership and innovation, client relations, technical experience, high-quality deliverables, writing and communication skills, and the ability to manage projects and project teams on budget and schedule.

Highway/Roadway Department Manager Responsibilities:

  • Serving as a department manager and project manager on various projects

  • Working in a supervisory mode with a close-knit team of design professionals where effective communication is an important part of the job

  • Involved with client development and engagement efforts

  • Supervising and mentoring staff as well as growing the team

  • Monitoring and ensuring sufficient workload

  • Financial reporting

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

  • Ten (10) years of experience performing roadway, highway and civil engineering design of various urban and transportation projects, including two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role

  • Florida professional engineer license

  • Transportation industry knowledge of the South Florida transportation markets.

  • Experience in implementing design quality assurance and quality control activities

  • Experience in direct supervision and leadership of staff

  • Ability to interact regularly and professionally with senior management and technical staff in other offices on business development and project execution

  • MicroStation, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software programs

  • Must have experience in proposal preparation and business development

  • Possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fifteen (15) years of technical roadway and design and four (4) years of leadership experience

  • FDOT and South Florida counties and municipalities transportation project experience

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated team-building ability and internal/external networking skills

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to present and discuss technical content with clients, regulatory agency staff, and the public
