Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Engineering Intern to be based in Fort Lauderdale, FL .

This position is expected to begin in May 2023.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities

  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

  • Perform engineering calculations and assist with the development of hydrologic and hydraulic models

  • Collect and analyze relevant environmental data

  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems

  • Assist with the preparation of reports and other project deliverables

  • Perform field visits and site reconnaissance as dictated by the project requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field

  • Must have completed 1 year of study in the applicable program

  • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship or permanent residency is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience/interest in one or more of the following areas: hydrology and hydraulics, flood modeling, geographic information systems, resiliency, sustainability and flood control structure design

  • Knowledge of the following software: AutoCAD, ArcGIS
