Position Title Technical Instructor

The Technical Instructor/Course Developer is primarily responsible for curriculum revision and maintenance. Technical curriculum may involve electronics, welding, or more highly technical areas such as radio and electronics repair or operation of weapons systems.
Uses a computer to organize and draft a curriculum that breaks a complex subject into blocks or units of instruction, creates graphics, and integrates them into curriculum. These courses may be instructor based, computer-based, simulator based, interactive, or non-interactive.
Teach short technical courses in accordance with approved curriculum to maintain proficiency and to evaluate and develop new instructional techniques/courses.
Incorporates new curriculum in the teaching process (e.g., develops clarification or examples of application related to the subject matter).
Development and maintenance of classroom techniques that reflect professionalism and good discipline and enhance teaching, development of alternative teaching techniques and scenarios to maintain high motivation and interest in the subject areas.
Conducting of test analysis and development or revision of test items.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Must be able to lift 50 lbs with or without accommodation
Must utilize all proper lifting procedures and practices
Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Constant sitting while using the computer terminal
Constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents
Constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication
Constant mental alertness
Must be able to work under pressure and strenuous conditions
Must be able to meet short suspense dates
Must be able to conduct work in the out-of-doors area with potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions (i.e. extreme temperatures, high humidity, rain and blowing dust)
Must possess planning/organizing skills
May require shift work
May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends, and holidays
During the usual work period, the worker may be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting and uncomfortable

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English
Associate’s Degree or equivalent
Five or more years’ experience developing and delivering training
Position may require a thorough knowledge in the particular area of specialization plus a broad knowledge of other disciplines such as environmental sciences, safety or industrial hygiene
Excellent written and spoken communication skills
Must have or be able to obtain licenses/certifications as needed to perform duties.
Must have a valid and current state driver’s license
Must be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle
Must be able to complete paperwork associated with the position as required
Must be able to work in a fast paced, complex environment
Must be able to read and understand Technical Manuals, Technical Bulletins, Army Regulations and Department of the Army Pamphlets
Knowledge of applicable state and Federal laws and company policy and procedures
Must possess basic computer skills with working knowledge of word processing and software applications
Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Must have an ability to meet physical demands and pass any related medical examination requirements required to perform daily assigned tasks
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check
Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance
May need the ability to obtain and maintain a government Common Access Card (CAC)
Position may require travel
Ability to work in GSS-Army
Ability to work in a team environment
