The SR Specialist is responsible to evaluate the ability of the critical assets to survive various threats (natural and man-made) by conducting analyses of the response of structures, above and below ground such as buildings, bridges, dams and those structures that house and protect critical assets and their supporting infrastructures, and their contents to diverse threats. The types of responses to be evaluated depend on the structure type and the threat level. Independently determine the damage level required to disrupt or destroy the site/facility mission, levels of protection to include standoff and hardening recommendations. Identifies all aspects of structural-related vulnerabilities, increases the customer’s awareness of potential vulnerabilities and impacts on mission execution capability, and provides recommendations to mitigate or eliminate identified vulnerabilities.
Expert understanding and operational experience with the Department of Defense’s and Federal Government’s computer-based analysis tools which illustrate types of damage and how to apply those tools to the specific site/facility.
Expert knowledge of regulations and requirements outlined in United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) directives.
Expert knowledge of issues and threats driving Design Basis Threat for military and Government facilities and construction programs.
Operational experience conducting in-the-field vulnerability-based assessments in the technical area of Structural Protection and Response.
Education Required: BS in Civil Engineering or BS in a related field with demonstrable emphasis on structural design and analysis (Academic or experience)
Experience Required: 10 years as a civil engineer or military civil engineer
Clearance Required: Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI)
MS/PhD in Civil or Structural Engineering; Experience working as a Licensed Professional Engineer; Experience working with US Army Corps of Engineers; Experience as a military civil engineer
