AECOM Director Project & Construction Management in Essen, Germany

Job Summary

The future holder of this role will be responsible for the leading, planning, organizing, controlling,

of 6 direct und 40 indirect reports. The direct reports are mainly team leaders in different locations across Germany. In collaboration with this team the Director of Project & Construction Management will develop operating and growth plans, including staffing, determines workload for the team, including short-, medium- and long-term business goals and objectives. Therefore, it’s the roles responsibility to tracks and reports on the team’s monthly performance, utilization and project backlog; may analyze and recommend corrective actions and may address the root causes of both personnel and project issues.

The successful candidate must have a proven track record at a similar position overseeing teams of project managers and delivering large scale projects on time and budget. There will be a focus on growing the business, project delivery and people management.

  • Leading on business development and work winning within the region for primarily private sector clients;

  • Expanding the AECOM business and taking responsibility for delivering the business targets for our Project & Construction Management service line

  • Liaise with current and proposed clients to develop repeat and new business for the company;

  • Prepare detailed client briefs or fee proposals for client submission and contribute to major bids;

  • Establishing strong working relationships with other internal teams within AECOM’s global capabilities

  • Mentoring and supporting the professional and personal development of your direct reports

  • Leading by example in hiring exceptional talent in line with the growth plans

  • Take overall responsibility for delivery of the team’s projects to contractual arrangements and the financial outcome agreed;

  • Act as a Project Manager/Director as necessary including monitoring financial performance and the delivery output produced

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree / Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Industrial Engineering or an equivalent field of study;

  • A senior professional with proven experience in the successful management and delivery of large-scale projects for both public or/and private sector clients in Germany;

  • A successful track record of building client relationships and identifying, pursuing and winning work;

  • A highly motivated individual with a passion for succeeding and developing a team of architects;

  • An excellent communicator (both written and verbal in German and English) with strong negotiation skill;
