The Environmental team in Edmonton is seeking a self-motivated; team oriented Socioeconomic Advisor for employment on a part-time basis. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Strategy development and day to day implementation of project socioeconomic considerations

  • Manage relationships with key individuals and business in the Maskwacis community

  • Lead and attend cultural events on behalf of AECOM

  • Lead project communications such as newsletters, project updates and open houses.

  • Lead the Working Group committee and Reclamation committee meetings

  • Attend events on behalf of AECOM such as Chief and Council meetings, Chief lunches, treaty days, pos wows, cultural camps, school presentations, elder meetings, job fairs, Christmas & Thanksgiving feasts.

  • Assist the Environmental Team in a planning and coordination capacity

  • Analyze data and prepare reports

  • Travel to work sites in the Pigeon Lake area

  • This is a telecommute position based of the Edmonton Office and will involve fieldwork and travel within the Pigeon Lake Region and other locations in Alberta.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 2 years of relevant experience and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.

  • Due to the nature of the work, Canadian Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a socioeconomic advisor role or community engagement.

  • Interest in the environmental and/or oil and gas industry

  • Have a strong working knowledge of the Treaty 6 area

  • Knowledge of the Maskwacis area and surrounding Indigenous communities

  • Have a strong working knowledge of the Cree Culture/Ability to speak Cree would be considered an asset.
