Job Description
We are currently seeking a Principal Landscape Architect to join and support the growth of our landscape design team, based in Scotland. As a member of one of the UK&I’s largest and most diverse landscape practices, you will take a lead on a range of types and sizes of projects, including active travel, placemaking, urban regeneration, major infrastructure and environmental enhancement schemes. We are working with major clients, both in the UK and overseas that include universities, local authorities and numerous private clients, including many of the major global developers. Our current projects range from restoration of sensitive iconic landscapes in the Highlands and development of international resorts such as Alula. We work across the design stages integrating our strengths in landscape planning and management to produce design solutions which are in harmony with the environment, sustainable and delivered in an imaginative and innovative way.
Our recently modernised office is based in Tanfield, just 200m from the Botanical Gardens and a 20 minute walk from Waverly Station and the heart of the city. The office is modern and open plan, situated quietly alongside the Water of Leith. It contains a range of break out spaces, a restaurant and lunch space, garden and secure cycle storage and showers. A range of social activities take place constantly as part of our Sports and Social Club, from language exchange to bouldering and other sports. Our Green Team organise social value activities targeting sustainability and environmental interventions in the community.
We will consider applicants with a proven track record in landscape design, but demonstrable experience in blue-green infrastructure, active travel and public realm, is preferable. This is an opportunity to join a team which is growing and with strong links across many disciplines. We are looking for a team player with good technical skills who wishes to be involved in the development of innovative, sustainable, carbon neutral, cost effective and buildable solutions in an environment that is collaborative, stimulating and challenging. The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team and develop our portfolio of active travel and public realm projects with our both externally and internally with our Streets team across the UK.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
At least five years post Chartership experience.
Technically competent in preparing landscape design schemes for public realm projects
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the UK legal and planning system with respect to landscape architecture.
Fluency in English and ability to communicate effectively.
Experience of managing projects, including financial control and reporting and programme management.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
The successful candidate will be competent in the use of AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Cloud software.
Experience of some or all of the following would also be very useful: AutoCAD Civils 3D, Revit, LSS or ProjectWise.
Experience of working collaboratively with other disciplines including civil and highway engineers, visualisers, and cost consultants in the delivery of active travel and public realm projects.
Full UK driving licence.
Preferred Qualifications
Landscape Institute accredited Bachelor’s degree, Diploma and/or Master’s degree.
Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI).
