AECOM UK & Ireland Ground Engineering Practice is expanding and has Principal level vacancies in Glasgow.
The Practice covers all elements of Ground Engineering serving a wide range of end markets including some key specialisms in tunnelling, mining and large linear infrastructure development.
AECOM’s Ground Engineering specialists provide one-stop access to services in feasibility studies, ground investigation, interpretation, detailed design, contract administration and construction supervision for geotechnical works. We work for leading UK&I and international clients and have commissions of varying scale across all sectors, including projects such as Thames Tideway, HS2, Neom (Saudi Arabia), Hinkley Point C nuclear power station deep temporary excavations and onshore tunnels, Lower Thames Crossing Ground, A83 Debris Flow mitigation and alternative alignment studies, Network Rail de-carbonisation programmes, Northumberland Line upgrading, York Street Interchange, Scottish Water mains renewals programme, Upper Garnock Flood Defenses, Arbroath Flood Defences, Seagreen Windfarm, Moray West Windfarm, Dogger Bank Windfarm and Rockfall Stabilisation.
We require ambitious team players with the technical and commercial skills, knowledge and experience to take day to day responsibility for delivery of projects and tasks, ensuring technical quality and adherence to budget and programme. The positions will suit those who can work with a high degree of independence, prepare fee proposals for external and internal clients and lead the input to projects from desk study/feasibility through ground investigation and interpretation to final design.
To be successful candidates must have a proven track record in the delivery of ground engineering projects in the UK and be fully conversant with the technical standards that apply.
Job Duties include:
Close support to our Technical Directors and Associates in project delivery, work winning and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
On the job mentoring of junior staff, supporting them to develop and achieve chartered status.
Support practice development and innovation.
Active input to team and client meetings, being prepared to own decisions and put forward alternative ideas and concepts.
Preparing fee bids and proposals for internal and external clients.
Preparing, checking and reviewing a wide range of technical documents including Desk Studies, Interpretative reports, specifications, construction drawings and Design reports.Ensure rigorous adherence to AECOMs industry leading quality assurance programme.
Possess strong problem solving and inter-personal skills, working closely and collaboratively with colleagues and clients in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clear and concise technical reports and documents.
A wide range of experience, knowledge and skills in geotechnical engineering.
A strong working knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practice.
Candidates for geotechnical engineering positions must have strong analytical skills and in-depth experience in the geotechnical design of earthworks and structures. Experience in numerical modelling using PLAXIS and similar software is desirable.
Clean driving licence.
Candidates should be willing to travel within the UK.
BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering.
MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or a related applicable field is desirable
Chartered Engineer status is required or you must be on track to achieve this within the next 6 to 12 months.
