Job Description
AECOM is seeking to hire an Associate Director Technical Due Diligence Specialist who will sit within our national Building Surveying Professional Services team and help lead AECOM’s technical due diligence service line. Location is flexible but you will need to be able to travel extensively around the UK (and occasionally further afield) to carry out your job duties.
This role will suit someone who has specialised in technical due diligence for most of their professional career, and who is excited about an opportunity to help lead, grow and develop these services within AECOM. Applications from persons with the appropriate experience and skills but gained via a different professional route, eg structural engineer, architect or other, are also welcome.
Job Duties:
Support AECOM’s head of TDD and share responsibility for the success of the service line, including technical, commercial and best practice aspects
Lead and manage others on individual TDD commissions, including surveys and report writing
Take ownership of your TDD projects, including:
preparing fee proposals and working on bids
taking and refining client instructions
organising and successfully delivering programmes of surveys (including considering and planning the necessary internal and external resources)
tracking and managing the finances of your surveying projects
tracking and managing your team’s performance on your surveying projects
coordinating timely and accurate invoicing
Work with the team to develop business with existing clients as well as new work
Work with the team and others across building surveying and AECOM’s wider business to deliver continuous improvement to TDD and wider standards, processes and knowledge
Mentor and develop graduate and trainee building surveyors and other team members
Under minimal direction, manage the implementation of new technologies and legislation, as appropriate
Manage client relationships
Financially manage your projects, taking responsibility for all aspects of financial management
Are expert in the building surveying specialist practice field of TDD
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
Extensive experience of practising and delivering technical due diligence (TDD) services in a commercial building consultancy
Demonstrable knowledge of the relevant RICS and legal aspects impacting TDD
Demonstrable experience across individual and portfolios of properties in:
bidding, winning and delivering TDD instructions for a broad sector range of investor, owner occupier and other clients
preparing TDD reports for purchasers and vendors, presenting findings to clients and supporting clients with queries management throughout their transaction
preparing TDD reports in respect of a variety of different types of commercial assets, including office, student accommodation, warehouse, hotel, leisure and retail assets
Demonstrable experience in supervising and training colleagues
And:
Experience in a variety of core building surveying work areas
Experience of networking with, working in and project managing multi-disciplinary teams
Strong client relationship management and business development skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent report writing abilities
Experience of managing and coordinating multiple surveying projects at once
Ability to performs a variety of senior level tasks with minimal supervision
Awareness of new technologies and legislation, as appropriate
Experience of all aspects of financial management of professional instructions
Preferred Qualifications :
Hold a relevant degree, such as an RICS accredited Bachelor’s degree in building surveying
Have been a Full Member of your professional body, eg the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS)
Ideally, you will have experience of delivering reports via a range of software options, and you will be excited about how you will seek to bring digital innovation to TDD practice
