Job Summary

We are currently recruiting for an Senior Mechanical Engineering to join our expanding Building Services team in our Dublin Office, Ireland.

The office is a multidisciplinary office with staff covering Building Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Transportation, Water, Energy & Environmental consultancy. The Building Engineering team has a large team of engineers whose projects cover high profile mission critical, commercial, education, health, industrial and residential projects across Ireland and abroad. A large proportion of our projects are in excess of €35 million construction value.

About the role:

A Senior Mechanical Engineer will be lead mid – large projects and project teams from concept through to handover. The successful candidate will have have proven design experience, delivering to quality, time and budget. This role will suit someone with a mechanical engineering / building services degree, who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and looking to advance their career.

The successful candidate will ideally be chartered or working towards chartered status.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare specifications, schedules, drawings and any other contract documents developed through the RIBA / project stages.

  • Attend progress, design team and co-ordination meetings.

  • Prepare outline scheme report / technical content of the design information.

  • Input to pre-qualification and selection of contractors respond to tender queries, comment and review tender returns.

  • Attend tender / client interviews. Attend site inspection meetings.

  • Ensure the project work complies with the Project Management Plan and Programme.

  • Be competent with mechanical design software calculations (Hevacomp, IES).

  • Be familiar with BIM standards and BIM project delivery.

  • Understand and implement AECOM’s Safety Health and Environment Policy.

  • Obtain the necessary information both internally and externally from Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Design Consultants for the design to proceed.

  • Liaise with clients, professional organizations, contractors, suppliers, sub contractors and other design.

  • Identify and meet effectively the requirements and expectations of clients.

  • Assess staff requirements at each work stage, agreeing these with the Project Manager and be able to manage single disciplinary and multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Develop and mentor junior / graduate members of staff.

  • Undertake project reviews and checking in accordance with QA procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Mechanical Engineer or Building Services Engineer.

  • Relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services design, including areas such as developing detailed design drawings and calculations, specification writing and compiling technical schedules. A track record of having worked on a variety of Building Services designs covering for example, Education, Healthcare and Commercial projects.

  • Experience of seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with clients.

  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, able to inspire, influence and negotiate.

  • Able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.

  • Excellent report writing skills, experience of making presentations and attending meetings with clients essential.

  • A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills working towards or achieved a professional chartered status.

  • Be familiar with Irish Building Regulations and standards including NZEB.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideally a graduate in Mechanical, building services or relevant discipline.

  • Proven track record in the Irish building services industry.

  • Chartered or with qualifications to become chartered.
