AECOM Senior ITS Engineer in Dublin, Ireland

We are looking to recruit a Senior Intelligent Transportation Systems Consultant Engineer to work in the Technology Services team. This position will be based primarily in our Dun Laoghaire office in Dublin.
The Technology Services team works closely with clients and partners, largely in the Transportation Sector, although this role will undoubtedly support other market sectors and regions due to the specialist nature of the role. The team provides services ranging from project management, feasibility studies, concept, preliminary and detailed design and construction supervision services on a wide range of contracts, and also supports other AECOM business lines where their projects have a transport technology interface.
You will be joining a team working on projects at the forefront of ITS that will influence the evolution of technology in transportation both in Ireland and internationally. Our current portfolio of work is focused on Cooperative ITS, Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, smart traffic management, sustainable technology solutions etc. to improve the future transport of passengers and goods. There will be a requirement to travel UK&I wide as well as opportunities to support business development and delivery outside of the UK&I.
Our clients are from the private and public sector and our leading clients in Ireland include Transport Infrastructure Ireland, the National Transport Authority, the Road Safety Authority and numerous Local Authorities, and a selection of our current and recent projects includes:
eMOS (Enhancing Motorway Operation Services).
Cooperative ITS Pilot Project.
Traffic management improvement schemes.
Pedestrian, cycle and public transport improvement projects
As a Senior Engineer, you will be expected to contribute to the design, development and technical delivery of projects and achieve enduring results. Duties and responsibilities include:
Undertake a variety of project work relating to ITS projects under the direction of Project Manager(s).
Planning, design and implementation of ITS assets on the Irish road network e.g. VMS, AID, CCTV, Traffic signals.
Planning, design and implementation of Urban and Inter-Urban projects.
Power and communication design for ITS assets.
Develop user requirements through discussion with Clients, other stakeholders and the Project Team.
Undertake site visits to collect relevant data and supervise installation and testing of equipment.
Prepare Design / documents / drawings in accordance with the requirements of our Quality Assurance System, Relevant Standards and Codes of Practice under the direction of a Project Manager.
Assemble and ensure all calculations, drawings, correspondence and other project documents are in good order.
Maintain the Project Management Plan and obtain the instructions of the Project Director and Project Manager concerning policy on quality records and retention.
Liaise with engineers and designers to understand their design requirements and provide technical advice to manufacturing and construction technicians.
Ensure all works are compliant with industry and health and safety standards and protocols.
Work on multi-disciplinary commissions; supporting in the preparation of detailed ITS design for major highway / urban commissions.
Lead the preparation / review / checking of highly technical reports.
Conduct site visits and surveys when required.
Present working information for use in all stages of the project, tender, manufacture/construction and installation.
Produce installation and manufacturing documentation.
Maintain accurate records.
Collaborate with different teams across AECOM and project partners to support the development and delivery of bids and projects
Highly motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work on their own with minimum supervision.
Knowledge of engineering principles and ability to create and read technical drawings.
The ability to transfer, display and manipulate your work using Microsoft Office and other programmes.
Attention to detail to create accurate and detailed drawings and check other colleagues' work for accuracy and quality.
Communication skills and relationship building to work with clients and other engineers to understand and interpret their designs.
Teamwork - essential to be able to work in a team.
Organisation and time management to complete work to project deadlines.
A flexible approach to decision making.
Mathematical skills to complete calculations and estimates.
Problem solving, creativity and innovation in order to come up with solutions to design problems.
Knowledge of health and safety requirements in order to design in line with industry standards.
Previous experience of working on ITS or in a similar field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Enthusiastic, hard-working and ability to learn new technologies and techniques with ambition and drive.
Excellent planning and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Degree/Masters qualification in Traffic, Transport, Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering or a similar related subject, from an accredited college or university, and with relevant experience.
Membership of, and working towards professional chartership with, a relevant professional institution such as Engineers Ireland, CIHT or TPS.
