AECOM is a global leader in transportation, our biggest business sector. AECOM in Ireland currently employs 750 professionals in total across the Republic and Northern Ireland, with over 200 working on transport projects. Our transport consulting team in Dublin provides strategic decision-making advice to clients to help them release their ambitions, addressing policy, strategy, planning and performance improvement, as well has helping them progress major capital infrastructure and transformation programmes and projects included within Project Ireland 2040.
We wish to appoint an experienced senior consultant to support the growth of our transport advisory services.
In this role you will assist clients with the appraisal and delivery of some of the largest transport infrastructure projects currently in development across Ireland. You will provide solutions to client business challenges to improve performance through the analysis of existing organizational problems and development of plans for improvement. You will be required to perform analyses and develop client deliverables appropriate to the specific consulting engagement and facilitate implementation of business recommendations in one or more of the following areas:
Capital investment planning
Strategy development
Policy development
Risk management
Economic analysis
Asset management
Project management
Operational efficiency
Change management
Real estate development
Information technology
Project cost consulting.
The team:
The transportation consulting team in Dublin includes economists, transport planners, GIS and data specialists, transport modelers and engineers. The team works closely with programme and project managers, cost management specialists, environmental specialists and different engineering disciplines. You will work across all of these disciplines to coordinate and lead the development of wide-ranging and varied consultancy services.
Our clients in Ireland include Dublin Airport, Irish Rail, Road Safety Authority, National Transport Authority and Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) to whom we have provided strategic transport planning and economics services for many years.

Job Responsibilities:
As a senior consultant within the Transport Advisory team you will:
Work collaboratively and iteratively within multi-disciplinary design and consultancy teams
Establish strong working relationships with other internal teams, particularly within AECOM’s transportation division
Apply internal AECOM processes and technologies
Be aware of and understand the AECOM Integrated Management System (IMS) procedures, their importance and their application to projects
Represent AECOM while engaging directly will clients in the development of project deliverables
Support the production of high-quality documents and reports
Input to thought leadership to promote AECOM and develop capabilities
Engage in continuous sector specific learning and development
Minimum Requirements
An undergraduate degree in a relevant analytical subject, however, we also recognise the value of a range of wider qualifications and experience
Project management
Analytical, data manipulation or statistical skills using appropriate software
You will have knowledge and experience in the transport industry and/or experience of working as a management consultant
Ability to articulate and communicate complex information to clients
You are good at managing your time to ensure you meet project deadlines
Data analysis and processing skills
Excellent numeracy and communication skills and an ability to leverage these skills to solve complex problems and business challenges for clients
You have the ability to interrupt and relay data quickly and effectively
Passionate about delivering high-quality advisory services for our clients
Self-motivated with an ability to work on initiative and liaise with clients independently where required
Willingness to challenge in a positive and engaging manner
Keen to work as part of a team and to develop and progress career development
Take responsibility for the health, safety, and wellbeing of all staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
Appropriate professional status (or working towards) with a membership of a relevant professional chartered institute, or eligible for membership of a relevant professional chartered institute; for example, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE), Transport Planning Society (TPS), or Chartered, Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT), Institute of Management Consultants and Advisors (IMCA).
