Job Description

AECOM are currently recruiting for a Principal Engineer/Consultant to join our Development Planning team in the Republic of Ireland. We are looking to enhance and grow this team with individuals with a sound technical background that share our enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding workload.

Our Development Planning team work on projects across Ireland and continental Europe. These are frequently multi-disciplinary projects, undertaken in collaboration with colleagues from across AECOM.

Our Development teams work with private and public sector clients, architects, planners and other property professionals across all sectors throughout the development life cycle; providing services from site feasibility through to completion. We undertake transport assessments, travel plans, parking statements, service management plans support our environmental colleagues in preparing transport chapters of environmental statements and provide key transport inputs to the development of development masterplans.

Development Planning clients include multinational technology companies, property developers, house builders, retailers, the National Development Finance Agency, the Land Development Agency, universities, local authorities and contractors.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven background in development-related transport analysis and assessment, with wider experience in project management and supervisory skills. We would expect excellent written and oral communication skills which we would continue to develop, as well as experience in client fronting and negotiation with local and transport authorities. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about working on a range of projects which support development at various stages of its life, particularly in light of the evolving transport planning, behavioural and technology landscape in which we work.

In this role you will work closely with our Associates and Directors within Transportation and other disciplines across our offices. You will also be expected to provide some mentoring and technical advice for more junior team members. As such, you will need to have knowledge and demonstrable experience of a range of transport planning skills and ideally with some experience of project management and supervisory skills.

You will be supported in this role by other like-minded individuals and a team with international recognition in many areas of transport planning. Collectively, you will form a team that delivers quality products, that satisfies the needs of our clients.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Providing support to the directors on technical, managerial and financial matters;

  • Preparing fee proposals for new projects and working with the directors and Project Management Assistant to ensure projects are delivered to budget and that KPIs are met;

  • Providing the first point of contact for clients, architects, planners and other property professionals throughout the project;

  • Representing the client and AECOM at meetings, and in negotiation with, Local Authorities and other regulatory bodies;

  • Supervising work carried out by the other members of the Development Planning team, ensuring that it is to the appropriate technical standard and is delivered to programme;

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience with relevant traffic modelling software

  • Liaising with clients, local authorities and other regulatory bodies and familiarity with the Irish planning system;

  • Understanding client briefs and developing fee proposals.

  • Preparation and ownership of development-related Transport Assessments, Mobility Management Plans and similar;

  • Experience with industry-standard junction capacity assessment applications such as Junctions 9/10 and LINSIG.

  • Some wider experience in master planning and junction design, including the application of DMURS.

  • Mentoring junior employees and the ability to demonstrate management techniques, including project and resource management.

  • Chartered or working towards
