AECOM GIS Consultant in Dublin, Ireland

Job Summary

AECOM are currently looking to recruit a GIS Consultant to join our Geospatial & Data Services team in our office in Dublin, Ireland. This is a full time, permanent role within a GIS team of 40 staff located in multiple offices across the UK. The role will provide GIS support on a range of projects to both internal and external clients mainly within the environment and ground engineering sector. You will need to establish strong relationships with internal Project Managers and technical leads within Dublin office and the wider UK and Ireland offices. Identification and development of internal & external geospatial business opportunities will also be expected.

Job Duties:

  • Data capture, management, analysis and validation

  • Data conversion and integration

  • Map production

  • Spatial and 3D analysis

  • Design and build spatial and non-spatial databases

  • Use of coding, automation and technology to efficiently deliver workflows and provide innovation into projects

  • Meeting with internal clients to determine GIS requirements

You will provide critical GIS input to delivering projects on time and budget. You should be innovative and creative with strong interpersonal communication skills, and be comfortable working independently as well as in an interdisciplinary multi-cultural team.

Specific Skills Required:

  • Highly competent in the use of ArcGIS desktop software and extensions

  • Exposure to developing and maintaining web GIS and/or enterprise GIS technologies

  • Exposure to developing and using mobile and GPS survey applications

  • An excellent understanding of spatial data structures and fundamental concepts of GIS

  • Ability to complete work with GIS best practice and corporate standards in mind

  • Prior experience in the use of ModelBuilder, ArcPy and geoprocessing tools to automate tasks

  • Ability to liaise with internal and external clients to promote GIS and deliver high quality GIS input into their projects

  • Able to work on their own and with the wider GIS/project team based in multiple locations

  • Proficient in the delivery of allocated project tasks, to quality, time and budget requirements

  • Have good problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

  • Proficient in using MS Office (Word, Excel, Access)

  • Exemplary focus, ambition and attention to detail

  • Provide dynamic and innovative solutions

  • Works under general supervision.

  • May program for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) design, mapping and analysis.

  • Under supervision, contributes to the design of databases or development of geodatabases and systems, as well as compiles and analyzes GIS data.

  • May enter information or supervise technicians to assemble input and output.

  • Creates, analyzes, reports, converts or transfers data using GIS software.

  • Receives instruction on specific assignments, objectives, complex features and possible solutions.

  • Assistance furnished on unusual problems and work reviewed for application of sound professional judgment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant experience in a commercial environment

  • Experience of working in environment and planning related datasets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with working and controlling a large number of evolving datasets

  • Prior experience and/ or a desire to learn programming languages and software development (Python, C#, SQL)
