The role

AECOM is a global leader in transportation, our biggest business sector. AECOM in Ireland currently employs 750 professionals in total across the Republic and Northern Ireland, with over 200 working on transport projects. The AECOM office in Dublin has an established track record of successfully delivering transportation projects throughout Ireland, as well as internationally. Our transport consulting team in Dublin Our team proves key decision-making advice to clients to help them release their ambitions, addressing policy, strategy, planning, operations and performance improvement. We wish to appoint an Associate Director complementing existing transport planning, economics and Intelligent Transport Systems capabilities to support the growth of a wider range of transport advisory services. This role has been created to meet existing and future demands and will grow significantly over time as our business evolves, offering great career progression potential for the right person.

The role entails:

  • Having a good understanding of the challenges facing the transport industry globally and locally in Ireland

  • Building and maintaining effective business relationships with clients

  • Developing strong collaborative relationships across all of AECOM’s disciplines and other organisations and leveraging AECOM’s cross-sectoral local and global resources

  • Developing additional transport advisory service offerings to clients, identifying a pipeline of work to support continuing growth

  • Preparing winning proposals for client opportunities

  • Delivering high-quality products and services to clients

  • Building and developing a team

  • Contributing to the leadership of the transport business in Ireland

  • Contributing to transport advisory business development and project delivery in Europe and beyond if required

  • Ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for team members

  • Championing and integrating AECOM’s Environment, Sustainability and Governance policies into all aspects of business development, project delivery and day to day team working.

As an Associate Director in AECOM you would:

  • Lead teams and/or programmes with moderate to high levels of complexity

  • Analyse complex issues and be accountable for solving challenging problems

  • Be accountable for the performance and results for your area and projects

  • Work collaboratively with the ability to make autonomous decisions in line with and supportive of AECOM strategy

  • Contribute to AECOM’s Consulting business strategy and planning

Minimum Requirements

  • Significant experience working in a similar role in consulting firm or a relevant public sector or transport organisation

  • A public sector focus, as many of our clients are government and statutory agencies

  • Strategic thinking and the ability to convey complex issues to a diverse range of audiences, in a clear and concise manner

  • Track record in delivering high-quality advice and solution in complex environments with multiple stakeholders

  • Strong analytical and research skills and experience in preparing clear, well-written, reports and presentations based on project outcomes

  • In-depth knowledge of the transport industry and experience in the non-infrastructure aspects of it to include some of the following areas for example multi-modal integration, sustainability improvement, decarbonisation, operations planning, operational efficiency and process improvement, revenue management, ticketing and other transport technology and integrative measures, programme sponsorship, procurement and delivery planning, benefits realisation management.

  • Team management and mentoring experience

  • Relevant academic and professional qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Primary degree in a relevant discipline

  • Postgraduate qualification preferable

  • Membership of, or working towards membership of, a relevant professional chartered institute.
