Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking to hire Senior Quantity Surveyor to be based at Dubai, As a Senior Quantity Surveyor you will provide a comprehensive, accurate and value driven service for large, high profile and exciting key commercial, corporate and residential clients.

Undertakes delivery of projects across the full spectrum of cost management activities under minimal direction and while managing a team at both pre- and/or post-contract.

Job Duties:

  • Accountable for a variety of complex deliverables throughout the lifecycle of a project

  • Accountable for briefing the team on the project scope to ensure roles and responsibilities are understood

  • Manages the resources on a project and within the established budget

  • Monitors and manages the performance of Project Surveyors and other direct reports

  • Functioning as a Deputy Project Manager on APIC on at least one active project

  • Assists with managing project services and projects using APIC and other systems as relevant

  • Ensures all deliverables comply with the IMS, including the use of Uniphi

  • Feasibility estimates, cost planning (presenting with no supervision), contract procurement, tender documentation, value engineering and commercial awareness, fee generation, dispute resolution, post contract management (competent in cost reporting).

  • Be aware of and develop marketing opportunities and where appropriate bring to the attention of Directors and the Business Development Department, in order that they may assist in following up potential leads enabling the development of new business.

  • Provides expertise and supervision with providing necessary input related to financial claims

  • Manage the tender process, review and analyse tender returns and prepare a recommendation to the client.

  • Input into value and risk management workshops as required by the client.

  • As primary project cost controller, ensures that the project remains on budget through the design and construction phases.

  • Reviews and compares scopes of work, production rates, and cost data.

  • Preparation of earned value reports.

  • Prepares, reviews, and updates cash-flows.

  • Evaluates and negotiates variations and change orders in liaison with the Contract Administrator, Commercial Manager, Design and Construction Team.

  • Evaluates and negotiates final accounts settlements.

Specific Skills Required :

  • High level of literacy skills in English. Arabic speaking considered a benefit.

  • Thorough knowledge of FIDIC contracts or similar

  • Thorough knowledge of CESMM3/4

  • Thorough knowledge of cost planning techniques, budget management and change control

  • Ability to present confidently

  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of cost management.

  • Knowledge of the principles of management, organization and administration.

  • Knowledge of the standard procurement practices.

  • Computer literate in all Microsoft applications.

  • Knowledge of Cost X and BIM software preferable.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with Clients and other project team members

  • Excellent leadership skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent time management and prioritization and able to manage pressure and meet deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying and/or Engineering from an accredited, internationally recognized institution or University

  • A minimum of 10+ years’ experience with large scale infrastructure projects.

  • MRICS or equivalent accreditation required

  • Demonstrated experience managing infrastructure projects is essential.

  • Experience supervising others

  • Bridge Works experience is essential

  • Middle East experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideally Degree Qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar qualification and hold Chartered status.
