AECOM Water Resource Engineer in Douglas, Virginia

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Civil Engineer - Water Resources for immediate employment in Glen Allen, Virginia Office to support our Water Resource practice.

AECOM is one of the nation's leading water resources firms with opportunities to work with a wide variety of clients on water resources planning, engineering, and design projects. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a positive can-do attitude, is customer focused, a critical thinker and problem solver and ready to apply their knowledge and skill sets in order to establish a rewarding, long-term career utilizing principles and methods for water resources engineering projects.

The primary responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic Analysis (H&HA) modeling using various software program

  • Analysis and design of stormwater drainage system, culvert design, flood plains, etc.

  • Write technical report and technical memorandum

  • Field work for site reconnaissance/inspections

  • Provide assistance with Project Management

  • Mentoring and training junior level staff

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Face to face interaction with clients

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Water Resource Engineering or related field

  • Engineering design experience with an emphasis in drainage, stormwater management/best management practices, erosion and sediment control, and hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design

  • Working Knowledge of AutoCAD

  • Ability to succeed in fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, and meeting strict deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Professional Engineer in Virginia (or ability to obtain PE license within 6 months of hire)

  • 3+ year of relevant water resource related experience

  • 3+ years of experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling concept and principles;

  • VA DEQ ESC and SWM Inspector Certification

  • VA DEQ ESC and SWM Plan Reviewer Certification

  • Knowledge of civil engineering design principles

  • Software AutoCAD, Civil3D, Geopak Drainage, GIS, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS
