AECOM is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to support work at a nuclear power plant located in the Midwest. Candidate will be working as part of a multi-discipline team of Engineers and Designers preparing modification packages that will include specifications, data sheets, calculations, and modifications to existing plant drawings. Candidate will provide technical oversight for the mechanical and piping disciplines and will also prepare estimates, budgets, schedules and scope of work documents. Candidate will work closely with the plant owners, operators and design engineering teams.

Provides technical leadership for a specialty and is considered to be a fully capable professional in their field.
Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Makes decisions independently on technical problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences.
Resolves important questions and plans and coordinates work.
Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modifications and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.
The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work usually result from progressive experience.
Supervision and guidance relate largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
Receives direction on unusual conditions and developments.
B.S. in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering plus 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Must be able to obtain un-escorted access to a Nuclear Power Plant
Experience in design of mechanical and piping systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities.
Four (4) or more years of experience relating to design or operation of commercial Nuclear Power Plants
Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience leading a group of engineers/designers on large projects
One (1) or more year of experience in the development of design of modification packages for Nuclear Power Plants
Technical knowledge and ability to perform engineering calculations such as hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, pressure drop, etc.
Able to develop mechanical design and procurement specifications
Ability to develop and update piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for various plant mechanical systems.
Experience with the development and issuance of design modification packages.
Experience in the design of plant mechanical and piping systems.
Ability to prepare engineering drawings such as P&IDs, GAs, Equipment Plan, Piping Orthographic and Isometric drawings.
Supervisory experience to include estimates, budget and schedule management, technical oversight for direct reports.
Good written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Management
Field experience at an operating Nuclear plant
Experience preparing Engineering Design Packages for Nuclear Power plants including familiarity with: NANTeL Certified in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01)
Professional Engineering License in any State in the U.S. with the ability to get licensed by comity
