AECOM is seeking engineering, technology and environmental science majoring students who are interested in the water/wastewater field to assist field technical staff, engineers, project engineers, and project managers during the 2018 field season in Detroit MI.

Work assignments will include:
Performing various data gathering activities in neighborhoods throughout the City of Detroit. Work may include conducting GPS surveys of water and wastewater infrastructure, performing assessments of fire hydrants and valves, assisting with water main leak detection, etc. Work will utilize various hand-held devices (i.e. tablets, GPS devices, and smart phones) to collect asset information. Collected data will be used to update DWSD GIS mapping and geodatabases for future capital improvements and asset management.
Assisting field staff performing hydrant flow testing and c-factor testing in accordance with AWWA Manual M17
Reviewing data collected in the field and preparing reports and maps
Supporting field inspectors in monitoring and review of CCTV sewer and manhole inspections
Other responsibilities as assigned and may include support of field operations to televise, test and inspect DWSD’s sewer and water systems.
Currently in pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Technology based degree programs or other related field required
Willingness to do fieldwork
Currently in pursuit of Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to organize and follow detailed instructions
Experience using hand-held devices, GPS equipment, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and productivity software
Valid Driver License
A university student with no more than one academic year remaining before earning a degree preferred, these students are typically seniors in university. Contingent upon a positive performance review, a successful intern may receive an offer of full-time employment.
