AECOM is actively seeking a creative and highly motivated mid to entry -Level Surface Water Engineer for employment in one of our Colorado offices to support an array of water resources projects including floodplain mapping, surface water modeling and drainage design. AECOM is searching for candidates that have the ability to be a role model, be client-focused, be impactful, and be decisive. The position will involve working on projects for local municipalities, federal agencies, and private clients to conduct hydrologic & hydraulic modeling and drainage design.
Candidates can expect a diverse set of assignments primarily focused on flood risk analysis. There will also be opportunities to work with staff experienced in roadway design, mine drainage, stream health, and more. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Build analytic and design skills by performing assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Conduct engineering design/analysis using spreadsheets and programming tools under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer using programs such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD and Microstation.
Use computer software such as HEC-RAS, SRH2D, and StormCAD as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
Develop reporting and documentation skills to include using visualizations for coordination with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in water resources, hydrology, hydraulic engineering, or other related field required
2 years of relevant experience
Have passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, or ability to pass within one year of employment
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
Fundamental understanding of hydrology and hydraulics
Strong attention to detail and work ethic.
Ownership and accountability for quality deliverables
