Job Summary
The Denver Metro Mining Team of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Geotechnical Engineer for immediate employment in the Greenwood Village (Denver), CO office. The mining team within the Water Business Line is responsible for providing engineering and design services in support of multidisciplinary projects, with a focus on tailings dam projects.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Planning, implementing, and managing geotechnical exploration programs including assigning laboratory testing.
Guiding staff engineers in performing material characterization, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses for tailings and water storage dams.
Preparing geotechnical reports, drawings, and specifications for tailings and water storage dam projects.
Supporting project manager in budget management, client updates, and general project management tasks.
Preparing and presenting technical presentations to clients and technical review boards.
Conduct field observations and site visits.
Assist project managers with geotechnical proposals.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited institution
10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering
Professional Engineer registration
Familiarity with design reports, drawings, and specifications
Experience in dam design or evaluation
Demonstrate proactive problem solving skills
Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment
Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D, Grapher, slope stability (Slope/W or UTexas4) and seepage (SEEP/W) analysis programs
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Exhibits initiative, responsibility and flexibility
Must be a resourceful, highly organized professional with attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines
Effective time-management and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Occasional travel to project sites, both local and remote
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from ABET-accredited institution
Tailings dam experience
Task lead and project management experience
Experience with Microsoft Project
