Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Energy and Sustainability Consultant to join the Energy and ESG Advisory team; this opportunity is available in several nationwide locations where AECOM has an office location . This team works on a variety of grid modernization, decarbonization, and resilience related initiatives for municipal, utility, and private clients. Example topics covered by this team include building and transportation decarbonization, microgrids, distributed generation, energy efficiency, district energy systems, net-zero buildings and communities, energy-water nexus, and coordinated infrastructure investment. The successful candidate will have demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, creative problem-solving, and leadership skills. Candidates may be considered for either a hybrid role (2-3 days in office) or fully remote role.
Responsibilities for the position include, but may not be limited to, the following:
The Energy and Sustainability Consultant will work closely with team members to drive forward collaborations for clients and partners.
Primary tasks will include qualitative research, data analysis, presentation development, and client interfacing
Applicant will be expected to synthesize concepts into written and visual reports for both non-technical and technical audiences
Success in this position requires a dynamic individual with high energy and motivation with an acute passion for developing strategic energy management, smart energy, sustainability and energy efficiency solutions
Critical requirements include teamwork skills, knowledge of the energy/infrastructure industries, and the ability to develop high quality and creative project deliverables in a fast-paced and ever-evolving industry
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS plus 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Previous experience with two or more of the following: financial, technical and political aspects driving both the energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, smart energy and utility industries and energy infrastructure development (Utility energy efficiency programs, statewide energy planning, building optimization, data analytics and renewables and, energy conservation measures)
Previous work experience and/or background in energy, sustainability, resilience, smart city technology, climate, or project management
Previous utility or municipal government work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
BA/BS in engineering, economics, policy, business or related field is preferred
Graduate Degree in engineering (Energy Engineering preferred), economics, policy, business or related
Experience in a client-facing role
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Project management certification or training
Previous consulting experience
Experience in any of these additional topics is preferred: Utility rate design and modeling, GHG inventorying/carbon accounting, electric transmission pricing and RTO operations, model creation and coding on platforms such as R/Shiny
Relevant certifications such as PE, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), LEED, WELL, Envision
Additional Information
Strong writing skills and ability to communicate complex processes or ideas simplistically - writing sample may be requested if selected for an interview

Offered rate of compensation, for Denver, Colorado only, will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $71,000 - $105,000 .
