Job Description
AECOM’s Colorado-based Buildings + Places practice is looking for a creative and experienced Business Development Lead based in Denver or Colorado Springs, CO who can help grow our full-service Architecture, Engineering, Landscape Architecture and Planning practice in a variety of market sectors (i.e. Federal, Municipal and Private Development). The candidate will be responsible for identifying and engaging with potential Clients, creating and implementing marketing and sales strategies, coordinating with marketing staff, writing, and managing marketing materials.
Additionally, the candidate should:
Have a basic understanding of the A/E/C terminology and practice, have analytical thinking and decisive judgment skills and have the ability to work in a cross-disciplinary team and office environment.
Seek business opportunities for the firm in support of the Colorado practice.
Assist in the development of the strategic marketing and BD strategies for the practice, research and gather information on potential clients and projects.
Be active in and represent the firm in professional and community organizations is a way to foster building and maintaining a strong business/client network while broadening the AECOM market presence.
Assist in the development of the strategies for specific client capture plans and, once an opportunity is identified, assist in the development of the capture team and proposal information for the pursuit.

Identify Opportunities: Both personally and in collaboration with Associate Principals and Principals, identify opportunities via phone, email and in person. Proactively meet with Clients to identify opportunities ahead of RFP’s.
Sales & Client Meetings: Conduct joint business development calls/meetings from initial contact, discovery, and initial contract. Follow up to ensure opportunity progresses and creates opportunities for follow up work. Manage marketing staff/tasks to effectively and efficiently respond to Request for Proposals. Priority opportunities will be from contact to contract.
Research and Open New Markets: Research, track market trends, identify lists, build contacts, strategic alliances, build relationships and follow up in order to open new markets.
Strategic and Business Develop Planning: Define sales and business objectives, create and assess strategies, develop plans, prioritize and execute business development tasks.
Opportunity Management: Manage and track business opportunities within our Buildings + Places practice (including reporting). Manage, mentor and train current staff related to Business Development.
Development & Approach: Create a Business Development approach and plan. The candidate should have examples of how they organized business development activities into a formal process. Align brand practices and help mentor/develop Principals and Associate Principal’s business development capability.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field to Architecture or Engineering or related field + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
Must have A/E/C industry experience
Business Development: 6+ years (required) with proven record of developing new Architecture/Engineering Clients in local geography
Knowledge of high performance buildings preferable
Experience with Salesforce is a plus

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000.
