AECOM Resident Engineer in Decatur, Illinois

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Resident Engineer to be based in Decatur, IL for work to be performed in Granite, IL.

The Transportation Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Construction Engineer to work as an Assistant Resident Engineer for a major multi-year bridge reconstruction project near Granite City, IL. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong career in the Construction Engineering and Management industry for roadway and bridges, and have a proven experience of major bridge construction projects especially river crossing in the Mid-West in any capacity. This opportunity can provide a great excel in mid-level construction individual's career who's passionate about bridge construction over water.

Under the supervision of Resident Engineer, the responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform field inspection and documentation of Contractor's activitiesPerform field measurements for quantity calculations and reporting for pay estimatesCommunicate effectively with the project team, including Clients, Contractors, and Project StakeholdersProvide quality inspection to ensure that job is being built in accordance with approved plans

  • Provides technical direction and guidance to staff and subordinate engineers/inspectors, enforces company and project policies, maintains close client interface, and ensures all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule

  • Supervises field staff, coordinates field activities, and provides project progress reports to the Client and AECOM Department Manager

  • Prepares and manages quality and safety plans for the project

  • Assist the Resident Engineer to plan and deliver CM services effectively for success of projects

  • Be a visible leader and trusted advisor to clients by promoting AECOM’s values both internally and externally

Minimum Requirements

  • BS + 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management

  • Registered Professional Engineer in Illinois or ability to obtain PE within 1 year

  • 8 + years of Resident Engineering or Assistant Resident Engineering experience managing major roadway and bridge construction projects

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
