AECOM Senior Traffic Engineer in Dallas, Texas

Job Summary

AECOM is looking for a Senior Traffic Engineer to be based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to fill a senior-level role, providing technical leadership, supervision and independent delivery of small to large projects. Our team works with local and national clients to provide solutions to their transportation needs. Typical projects include traffic projections, IAJR, traffic impact studies, travel demand modeling, traffic analysis and simulation, traffic safety analysis/studies, conceptual planning and design, and other transportation related studies and design for highway, or municipal roadways.

Position Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Lead the delivery of traffic analysis, projections, and simulation for public sector clients

  • Preparing plan sheets, specifications & estimates, technical memoranda, reports, presentations and other project documentation

  • Providing technical leadership and supervision of small-to-large tasks, working with junior staff and reviewing technical work and project documentation

  • Delivering assigned tasks on schedule and budget, while adhering to AECOM quality standards

  • Coordinating directly with other discipline groups within AECOM, as well as with external clients and sub-consultants

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.

  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.

  • Coordinate with Business Development leads to capture project opportunities

  • Work with leadership to grow traffic team in DFW area.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or related field and minimum of 8 years of related experience, or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent

  • (15) + years of relevant experience

  • Experience in TxDOT Traffic Engineering projects

  • Experience in business development activities including preparing project proposals and firm marketing

  • Professional Engineer license in the State of Texas, or the ability to obtain license within 6 months

  • 8+ years of experience in Traffic Engineering.

  • Experience in traffic operational analysis including traffic projections, analysis, and simulation; traffic safety analysis, traffic signal warrants, traffic signal and pedestrian crossing control system analysis, and design; and traffic signing and pavement marking analysis and design

  • The right balance of management, technical skills, and experience serving internal and external clients

  • Familiar with or knowledge of: MicroStation, Synchro, VISSIM, TransCAD or other similar applications

  • Microsoft Office
