Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Network Architect to join our Global Corporate IT team. The Network Architect has three main areas of responsibility – Designing solution architecture for technical projects, document existing solutions and environments, and being a technical resource and escalation point for engineering teams.
This position will be remote/virtual and open to a variety of locations in the US.
Role Description
Working with stakeholders, the Network Architect will collect and review non-functional requirements for projects and create technical solutions that work within the Enterprise Architecture plan and own the technical details of the plan through implementation. The Network Architect will also be responsible for creating documentation for legacy solutions and be able to function as an escalation point for relevant operations task (such as incidents) in the environment.
Job Functions
Create and implement practical, reliable technical solutions for projects across AECOM’s Enterprise
Coordinate network architecture activities across all IT teams and 3rd party contractors
Create and maintain network standards
Present and defend solutions to the Architecture Review Board
Provide broad expertise to projects and SMEs across all phases of the project lifecycle
Create and maintain catalog of architecture artifacts such as project documentation, system diagrams, support processes
Act as escalation point for operational issues
Integrate business strategies with IT roadmaps and architecture decisions
Analyze operational information and participate in operational working groups to improve overall IT posture
Competencies
Manage multiple high visibility, critical projects
Communicate technical strategies to non-technical executives
Translate business goals into IT strategy/roadmaps
Produce innovative solutions to complex problems
Provide technical expertise on a wide variety of networking topics
Lead inter-departmental technical teams
Demonstrate success through reporting and analytics
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS plus at least 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Leadership experience in cross-functional roles
Excellent communication skills, particularly presenting solutions to a non-technical audience
TOGAF principles/certifications
Experience with diagraming and presentation applications
Deep understanding of ports/protocols, circuits, and networking standards
Switches/Routers – Cisco
WiFi Infrastructure
Firewalls – Palo Alto
Preferred Qualifications:
Voice – Cisco, MS Teams calling, QoS, SIP
Load Balancers/WAFs – F5
SDWAN - Viptela
PRISMA strongly preferred
Security tools (IDS/IDP, NTAP, Tufin)
AWS/Azure experience
Relevant certifications a plus
