AECOM is seeking a Systems Engineer for our Dahlgren, VA location.
This position will perform Engineering tasks supporting Tomahawk Weapon System engineering and design for NAVAIR. Additional responsibilities are as follows:
Develop Candidate Change Package (CCP) Training and Logistics Impact Reviews for emergent engineering candidates for the Tactical Tomahawk Weapon Control System (TTWCS).
Track hardware, software, and associated equipment for firing units to verify compatibility of installed systems and applicability of Fleet Support (FS) / Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) products.
Participate in TTWCS review boards and working groups; evaluate proposed engineering and developmental changes for operational impact.
Prepare and present reports detailing impacts of proposed changes, workaround and recommendations for documentation. Track board decisions and assigned action items.
Interface with engineering and software development teams, and participate in development of interim procedures, technical bulletins, technical notes, and other procedural workarounds for fielded versions of the TTWCS.
Monitor Software Information Management System (SWIMS) and System Design Issue Resolution (SDIR) databases for Change Requests (CRs) with FS/ILS impact. Provide tactical and technical
recommendations for program concept development.
Adjudicate FS/ILS CRs; assist with development of necessary work around source material and provide input for issues impacting operational capabilities.
Assign and track distribution of hardware, software and Fleet Support review items. Collect and collate comments, coordinate adjudication, and provide updated metrics.
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, or four (4) years of a demonstrated knowledge base and subject matter expertise relevant to specific technical disciplines of the PWS, including the qualifications below; or US Naval operational experience at the E7 level or higher.
In addition, six (6) years of engineering experience with a DoD major weapon, combat, and/or fire control systems program. Experience in concept definition, Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) compliant architecture development, requirements definition, and initial and detailed system design activities. Systems engineering experience focused on requirements development and management of software systems. This includes experience related to the identification, analysis, and documentation of complex systems involving DOD weapon, combat, and/or fire control systems.
Two (2) years of concurrent experience with Navy surface or submarine shipboard weapons, combat, and/or fire control systems to include current Navy programs such as Tomahawk, USW (Surface Ship), USW (C4I), SLBM, and/or LCS Combat Systems . One Engineer/Analyst experienced with engineering tools such as DOORS, Change Synergy, and System Architect.
Two (2) years specialized demonstrated expertise understanding and developing Engineering Change Proposals (ECP), Interface Change Requests (ICD), Interface Design Specifications (IDS), Weapon Specifications (WS) and other system design/system integration documents for weapons control systems and surface combat, control and/or situational awareness systems.
Demonstrated experience with weapon and combat system certification processes and requirements, specifically self-certification criteria for elements of weapons control systems and surface ship combat, control and/or situational awareness systems for Tomahawk Weapon System and/or Surface Ship Undersea Systems Warfare (USW) systems.
US Naval Experience developing, planning, and executing TLAM missions and working with operational TLAM procedures and tactics.
