Position Title Head of Programmes and Projects

We are looking for an individual to come in as a Head of Programmes and Projects and lead the creation of a new function called the Project Delivery Organisation (PDO) under the oversight of the Deputy MD.
The Head of Programmes and Projects is responsible for the overall operation of a project to include the safety and well being of its employees, safeguarding company funds and property, and generally represents the company with respect to the client.
The International consortium UK Nuclear Waste Management (UKNWM) are the Parent Body Organisation (PBO) who owns the shares in LLW Repository Ltd (LLWR), the Site Licence Company (SLC).
UKNWM consists of AECOM, one of the world’s largest firms in the construction and engineering sector, Studsvik UK, and Orano. The PBO acts as a parent company, providing additional resources and management expertise, to carry out the NDA’s mission.
You will complete projects to the satisfaction of the client, consistent with cost, schedule and contractual requirements and ensure that established company goals are realized while maintaining client relations that will enhance future business.
You must have the appropriate combination of education, experience, expertise, and competency to perform successfully according to the project’s/contract’s level of financial risk and complexity. All projects will be assessed for financial risk and complexity, ranging from low to high.
You will also participate in the Project Team Training Program (PTTP). Completion of courses and planned participation in future courses will be defined at each level by the senior Project Operations or the Group management team. Attainment of the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute is recommended.
Ensures establishment of a comprehensive ES&H Plan.
Ensures establishment of a comprehensive Crisis Management Plan.
Ensures that the Plans are aggressively monitored and requirements are enforced.
Actively participates in execution of the plans, including emphasizing the plan in new hire orientation.
Obtains, manages and maintains STS Certification for required project personnel.
We are looking for a candidate who exhibits confidence and positive attitude about the project and the Company and who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills (e.g. conflict resolution, team builder), you will maximise full use of company’s resources, ensure you clearly understand the roles, responsibilities, authority, and accountabilities of each team member and draws upon the Company’s resources in order to successfully find and implement solutions to project
Relevant qualifications but most importantly we are looking for candidates who have significant experience in similar roles.
