We are currently recruiting for a Senior Engineer with experience of bridge design, inspection, assessment and refurbishment schemes, to join our busy and expanding experienced Croydon Bridges team.
Our Croydon office has an established track record of successfully delivering bridge engineering schemes for over 75 years, mainly in the London and Southeast England but also throughout the UK and overseas. The team provides assessment, concept, feasibility, preliminary and detailed designs on a wide range of schemes, either as standalone bridge commissions or as part of multidisciplinary major projects. Our clients are from the private and public sector and include long term Framework Agreements with numerous London and Southeast England Local Authorities together with Design and Build commissions for many major Contractors.
As a Senior Bridge Engineer, you will have the following daily responsibilities:
Undertake rail and/or road bridge and associated structures engineering schemes from inspection and assessment, feasibility through to detailed design.
Hands on technical design of road and/or rail structures.
Hands on assessment of road and/or rail structures.
Assist with the commercial and financial control of your project.
Supervision of graduate engineers and technicians.
Planning and project management.
Production of tenders including quality documentation and costings.
Report writing and production of technical reports and documents.
We recognise a variety of experience and backgrounds may suit this role and that experience levels in specific technical areas may vary. If you feel you only meet some of the requirements below or have transferrable skills, we would still love to hear from you!
Degree educated or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Bridge, Civil or Structural Engineering..
Either a Chartered Engineer with ICE or IstructE, or close to completion.
Technical skills in current inspection, assessment and design and be able to supervise graduate and technicians in such projects.
Proven technical and project management experience delivering to quality, time and budget.
Experience in road and/or rail projects.
Experience in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Previous exposure with clients of both national and local authorities, together with major contractors.
Ability to manage staff and project Health and Safety responsibilities including compliance with CDM legislation.
Working knowledge of structural analysis software – Lusas, MIDAS, SOFISTIK or Structural Bridge Design preferred.
Experience of Eurocodes, British Standards and assessment codes.
Excellent technical and communication skills both verbal and written.
