AECOM Rail Electrification and Power Engineer in Croydon, United Kingdom

Job Summary

Due to our continued growth, we are seeking Electrification and Power Design Engineers join our London and South East team. The successful candidate will be working towards a professional qualification and will have design experience of delivering Electrification and Power projects to client’s satisfaction at the appropriate standard, ensuring accuracy of drawings and calculations, designs are economic and appropriate, and that the relevant codes and standards are complied with.

We are especially keen to talk to candidates who have experience in DC Traction Power substation, Electric Track Equipment (ETE) or Points Heating/Signalling Power design as we look to grow this team with individuals who have a sound technical background, share our enthusiasm and have a determination to support our expanding workload. Our clients are from the private and public sector across Europe and the Middle East and within the UK include HS2, Network Rail, London Underground, TFL, Nexus, TfGM, SYPTE, Centro and Croydon Tramlink, as well as various Tier 1 contractors. The team provides production of feasibility studies, Outline/scheme designs and detailed designs, assessment, inspection, construction support and management services.

Our current portfolio of works comprises a diverse mix of local, national and international Rail infrastructure projects with key Rail projects currently under production by staff in our Croydon/London offices including:

  • Beckton Depot

  • Crossrail

  • Mersey Rail PSU

  • SRSA

  • Eastleigh Light Maintenance Depot

  • Lewisham Station redevelopment

Job Responsibilities:

  • Receive brief from Project Manager/Senior Team members.

  • Contribute to development of concept and detailed designs including calculations reports and specifications.

  • Prepare CAD drawings/Liaise with CAD Technicians for production of drawings.

  • Prepare technical reports.

  • support development of project specifications for construction.

  • Attend site during construction phase if necessary to ensure construction is in accordance with specifications/drawings.

  • Carry out risk assessments and provision of design information for Health and Safety file.

  • Understanding of Health and Safety including CDM

  • Good standard of written English and communication

  • Experienced in the use of Network Rail, London Underground, Railway Group Standards as well as the relevant British Standards and Eurocodes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
