AECOM Principal Electrical Engineer in Cork, Ireland
We currently have a requirement for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our growing Building Services Engineering team. We continue to successfully win significant projects, where we have the opportunity to deliver innovative and sustainable engineering solutions. Our success to date is built on the quality of our people, and we are looking for a first-class engineer to fill this role.
The successful candidate will be a Chartered Engineer with a minimum of 10-years post-qualification experience looking to further their career within a leading edge consultancy with a friendly office environment. This is a permanent role and offers excellent prospects for career development and the opportunity be involved in a diverse and challenging range of design projects across all sectors including commercial, industrial, healthcare, retail, leisure and educational. An integral member of our building engineering team, you will be responsible for a portfolio of projects and will be expected to take them from initial brief through scheme & detail design to installation and commissioning support.
Responsibilities will include:
Project Planning and Management
Preparation of contract documentation and specifications
Designing and reviewing design work of intermediate and junior engineers
Coordination of work with all members of design teams (architect, engineers of all disciplines, QS etc.)
Ensuring that all designs and documents are prepared to the highest standards
Estimating and Cost Control on projects
Compiling project reports
Conceptual design studies and reports
Mentoring and development of junior and intermediate engineers in the group

Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team
Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
Prepares technical specification sections.
Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
Post-qualification experience, most of which will be gained in design gained within a consultancy environment
Technically excellent with in-depth knowledge of relevant standards and regulations
Experience in a wide range of medium to large-scale projects
Experience in leading and supervising multi-disciplinary design teams
Proven team player with management experience
Organised and adaptable with a flexible approach to work
Ability to deliver projects on time and within budget
Competent in electrical design software
A strong ability to communicate with the team and clients through sketching, drawing and in writing
Willingness to travel
Highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges
