AECOM Chief Engineer, Rivers and Coastal, UK & Ireland in Cork, Ireland

Job Summary

Are you someone with engineering flair and the ability to shape the most complex solutions in the Water Resources Sector? Would you like to work for clients such as the Environment Agency, Network Rail, NEOM and the World Bank?

Here at AECOM we have a rare leadership opportunity for you to join our UK & Ireland Water team.

As our Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical leadership of our rivers & coastal practice across UK & Ireland, supporting globally.

AECOM has substantial interests already in this sector and to further grow and develop we require dedicated focus on technical leadership and development support through an experienced and dynamic leader.

Our Chief Engineer will ensure sufficient rigour in technical delivery, client relationships, business development and team growth to meet our exacting targets.

Reports to : UK & Ireland Sector Lead for Water Resources

Accountability 1 : Lead technical decision-making and delivery strategy for our key projects in sector. Ensure solutions developed are ambitious, innovative and best value.

Accountability 2 : Maintain an active profile in sector, supported by our external communications specialists, to support work winning and to identify and gain traction in client programmes with significant potential for growth.

Accountability 3 : Support and nurture the technical development of our staff, clients and Rivers and Coastal practice through mentoring, workshops and recruitment.

Accountability 4 : Be active in the implementation of SHEW processes and principles to keep our people and communities safe.

Minimum Requirements

  • Over ten years’ experience in rivers and/or coastal or similar engineering. Chartered with relevant institution.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship builder

  • Strong communication skills – ability to lead a room of senior stakeholders/clients

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant experience of senior stakeholder management, ideally water sector

  • Ability/interest in team development or management

  • Proven leadership and motivational skills
