AECOM Resilience, Urban Sustainability & Climate Change Specialist in Colombia, Colombia
AECOM is seeking an Specialized Professional, who is going to work with the Practice Lead for our RACC COLOMBIA & LATAM Practice Area within our Buildings and Places Business Line. In this role, you will be a key member of the RACC team and play an instrumental role growing the practice.
The primary emphasis of the position is to promote resilience, socioeconomic and environmental sustainability in design, planning, and other projects. This is accomplished through employing climate assessment, rigorous strategic planning techniques and developing innovative analytical approaches to providing solutions for delivering sustainability in varied domestic and international contexts.
This position will focus on urban resilience, climate adaptation and resilience management for mulilateral entities, local government, public agencies and the private sector.
Qualified candidates will have excellent writing and analytical skills with professional consulting experience in architecture and/or engineering + climate change adaptation and preferably with project management experience. Experience working with communities and regions will be a plus. Urban planning or model/policy design is also mandatory. The candidate must have demonstrated experience in sustainability, with a particular emphasis on climate change and resilience.

Cost-benefit analysis for climate adaptation plans
Net Zero Energy Buildings
BA/BS degree in a relevant field (e.g. City and Regional Planning, Environmental Policy) from an accredited university.
Architect, Engineer or urban planner, specialized in topics such as sustainable design, resilience, climate change, project management, among others.
Demonstrated knowledge of local government climate change/sustainability policy and program development is essential.
4+ years of specific experience at a planning consulting firm, or equivalent in resilience/climate change or related fields
Demonstrated experience managing projects, conducting and/or overseeing analysis, and writing proposals and securing work; client management, experience managing a small team.
Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., City and Regional Planning, Environmental Policy, Climate Change, Environmental Planning,) is highly preferred
Experience on adaptation planning essential, particularly policy and program design
Experience on climate change vulnerability and risk assessments that consider an array of climate impacts, including sea level rise, precipitation, and temperature and development of adaptation strategies to reduce impacts
Understanding of greenhouse gas inventory and forecast methodologies
Excellent quantitative skills.
Excellent project management skills
Detail-oriented: Strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn more and a desire to work in a dynamic, deadline driven team environment.
Excellent communication and writing skills are critical.
Architect or Engineer with more than 8 years of professional experience
Demonstrated project management experience and a proven record of project delivery to high standards, on time and within budget will be a plus.
Demonstrated skill, versatility, and creativity with program management and leadership experience in conservation, ecological management, environmental science, and research
Strong research and management experience guiding projects to help conserve and restore the environment and build climate-resilient communities
High-level view of systems and a data-centric approach to problem solving based on extensive experience in urban planning, ecology, and environmental sciences.
Exemplary and successful proposal and grant writing experience
Leading, and working in high-level teams
Experience in the development, implementation, and assessment of long-range strategic plans that maintain alignment with clients’ core missions
Experience in technical consultation and project planning in the areas of regulatory compliance and sustainability
Ability to communicate and translate science to both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong detail-oriented work style, with excellent oral and written communication skills, and a solutions-oriented proactive attitude
Ability to build and apply inter-disciplinary, effective teams to tackle complex projects and provide viable solutions
Proficiency in developing and delivering technical excellence improvement initiatives and innovations to ensure we continuously strengthen our client value and maintain a competitive position in the market.
Under direct supervision, provides project analysis. Executes work plans and task definition, participates in data collection.
Participates in the development of solutions to customer problems under the guidance of a senior manager or area leader.
Assigned as a consultant in areas such as sustainable design, architecture, urban planning, transit-oriented development, resilience, and climate change.
You can manage groups of various sizes of architects, designers and/or specialists.
May work on modest sized projects and/or assist higher rated Architectural or Engineering Project Managers.
Serves as a professional specialist for the organization in applying advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes to an assigned area of responsibility. He is consulted extensively by associates and others with a high degree of confidence in his professional interpretations and technical knowledge.
He is a recognized leader and authority in a broad area of expertise or in a narrow but highly specialized field.
He provides support and leadership to others to achieve the technical goals of the overall work effort.
Convened regularly as a key expert in business development activities.
Consults clients and makes recommendations to overall senior project leadership as a key liaison between teams.
