Job Description

AECOM's Buildings + Places business line dedicated to excellence and integrated architecture, engineering and interiors design solutions. Clients trust AECOM to design the buildings and public spaces that shape where we live, work, and play while sustaining people, connecting communities and protecting the natural world.

AECOM is seeking a creative, highly talented Project Manager to join our practice and grow our government market. Our Project Managers work directly with the client and stakeholders to ensure project and program objectives are met. Additionally, they will maintain and deliver high quality projects on time and within budgets while establishing and maintaining excellent client relations.

The major responsibilities of this role include:

Project/Practice Management

  • Creates and executes project work plans, project executions plans, risk mitigation plans, etc.

  • Identifies staffing needs and assigns individual responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day operational aspects of a project, including the budget, base scope and additional services

  • Reviews deliverables prepared by the team

  • Prepares for internal monthly project reviews and quality assurance procedures

  • Assumes responsibility (in partnership with the Market Leader and Project Approver) for financial, technical and design excellence, overall quality and client satisfaction

  • Ensures project documents, including legal documents, contracts, and task orders are reviewed, approved, signed and filed per the AECOM project management framework

Project Accounting

  • Updates the project EAC monthly and monitors WIP, AR, SCM, DLM, EBITA, GM, NSR.

  • Tracks and reports hours and expenses

  • Manages project budget and expenses

  • Determines appropriate revenue/margin recognitions, ensures timely and accurate invoicing, monitors project receivables, and is responsible for collection of AR

  • Analyzes projects profitability, revenue, margin, bill rates and utilization

Communications

  • Facilities team and client meetings

  • Effectively communicates relevant project information to the client, team, and internal leadership

  • Delivers engaging, informative, and well organized presentations

  • Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion

Teamwork

  • Consistently acknowledges, appreciates, and motivates both individual staff and project team

  • Effectively utilizes each team member to his/her fullest potential

  • Keeps track of lessons learned and shares those lessons with team members

Technical Understanding

  • Utilizes their general understanding in the areas relevant for the projects managed

  • Regularly seeks continuing education opportunities

Client Management

  • Manages day-to-day client interaction and expectations

  • Develops lasting relationships with clients

  • Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative solutions

  • Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction

Leadership

  • Challenges others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for changes

  • Manages change processes effectively

  • Remains engaged and knowledgeable regarding industry practices

Business Development

  • Identifies business development and additional service opportunities for all disciplines as they relate to a specific project, program or client

  • Engages in proposal efforts, working as the internal or external capture manager, including completing project scoping and pricing

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelors Degree in Architecture or Engineering or other related field and 6 years of related experience

  • Demonstrated and extensive experience as a Project Manager within any of the following markets: Federal Government, Transportation or State & Local Government, Justice, Education, Corporate or Commercial

  • Due to the nature of this role, must be a United States Citizen
