Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Senior Water Resources Engineer for employment in our Clifton, New Jersey location to support our Water Resources practice.

AECOM is one of the nation's leading water resources firms with opportunities to work with a wide variety of clients on water resources planning, engineering, and design projects.

The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a positive can-do attitude, is customer focused, a critical thinker and problem solver and ready to apply their knowledge and skill sets in order to establish a rewarding, long-term career utilizing principles and methods for water resources engineering projects.

This job is expected to start immediately.

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling using various software program

  • Analysis and design of stormwater drainage system, bridge and culverts, dams & levees, flood plains, stormwater quality systems, etc.

  • Prepare civil design and grading for flood control, drainage, and stormwater management projects.

  • Write technical report and technical memorandum

  • Field work for site reconnaissance

  • Provide assistance with Project Management

  • Mentoring and training junior level staff

  • Face to face interaction with clients

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Valid U.S. Driver's License with good driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering preferred.

  • PE in NY or NJ or ability to acquire within 6 months desired

  • 6+ years of relevant experience desired in the following:

  • water resource related experience

  • hydrologic and hydraulic modeling concept and principles;

  • hydrologic and hydraulic models (HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS)

  • Demonstrated proficiency in ArcGIS and AutoCAD/ Civil 3D

  • Strong analytical and computation skill​​​​​​s

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
