Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Geologist/Hydrogeologist to be based in our Cleveland, OH office. This position will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line.
This position is expected to begin May/June 2023.
Job Overview:
AECOM is seeking an Entry-level Geologist/Hydrogeologist to assist with a variety of projects including data management, site investigations, and remediation. The successful candidate will assist with gathering and analyzing geological, hydrogeological and geochemical data in both the field and office settings.
The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:
The field activities will consist of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, and soil vapor sample collection, geological logging and interpretation, and the oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies.
The office activities will involve preparation of boring logs, potentiometric maps, cross sections, and investigative reports.
Assisting Project Managers in efficient execution of project scope of work on time and within budget.
Providing field services for site investigation, drilling, UST removal, soil, air, and groundwater sample collection, and related work.
Provide office support for data management and report preparation.
Ability to work independently with diverse staff in office and non-office setting (i.e., outdoors, undeveloped/wooded areas, year-round).
Must demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees.
Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.
Field work will be required including oversight of subcontractors.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Geological Sciences, or related field of study
Valid U.S. Driver's license.
Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications
MS in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field is preferred.
1+ years of experience within environmental consulting or related field
Possesses technical report writing skills.
Independent field worker.
Experience performing contractor oversight.
Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
Current 40 hour HAZWOPER training with annual refresher class, if needed.
Candidate must be proficient with basic computer programs; MS Word and MS Excel, etc.
Additional Information
This is an in-office position. Candidates are expected to reside in the Cleveland area.
Travel is required for this position. Candidates will be asked to submit to a Motor Vehicle Record screening upon hire.
Relocation is not offered for this position.
