AECOM Director of Business Development - AEC- Industrial- food and Beverage in Cleveland, Ohio

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Director of Business Development, for Design Build Engineering Nationwide in the industrial sector preferable food and beverage. Ideally you will be in one of our Mid West or Texas or Colorado Regional office and you will will manage the identification, development and capture of alternate delivery projects. In this relationship building role, he or she will be responsible for all aspects of AEC project development from client identification through the capture process.

Responsible for delivering sustainable, profitable growth in the industrial manufacturing market with a specific focus on food & beverage. This person will focus on identifying and developing long-term business relationships with existing and new clients through the advancement of opportunities with scope ranging from detailed design through design-build. A key aspect of this position is strategy development and the identification of opportunities that conform to the strategy and associated growth targets established. A successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate a history of working as a strategic thinker, innovative and confident negotiator, and team player.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Demonstrates a wide-range knowledge of the company, its organizational structure and philosophy, as well as the engineering and construction industry.

  • Directs, conducts, and coordinates the sales, marketing, research, and planning activities.

  • Responsible for hiring and development of a “best-in-class” Business Development organization.

  • Applies sound professional judgment in solving a variety of complex and difficult problems requiring the use of initiative, ingenuity, and creativity.

  • Duties are complex and require extensive and diversified experience and abilities, and knowledge of marketing and planning principles and practices.

  • Is fully accountable for Business Development activities within the Industry Segment (Sub-Unit).

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Engineering, Manufacturing or related degree plus 12+ years of related Business Development Experience in Industrial Manufacturing plus 4+ years of leadership experience or AA/AS (US) + 14 YORE or Diploma/Certificate (Canada) + 14 YORE or HS/GED + 16 YORE; all including a minimum of four years of leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • 20+ years of proven success delivering sustainable, profitable growth in the industrial manufacturing market with a specific focus on food & beverage with a consulting firm.

  • The ability to adeptly communicate our company's differentiating qualities and characteristics, and to ensure that our approach to addressing client needs will be successful for both parties in the long term

  • Proven client development and strategic relationship capabilities

  • Skills, knowledge and abilities – Ability to engage with senior technical and management staff to obtain necessary information and commitment for a specific effort; leadership skills –creativity and sound management of “must win” and other marketing efforts;

  • Proven profitable alternative delivery projects of Industrial manufacturing in Food & Beverage

  • Knowledge of North American market a plus

  • Ability to broad scan other water related end markets and to assist in strategy development

  • Agile response to fast paced, complex work environment and organizational change

  • Experience with Alternative Delivery to design and construction including: Design, AE Design, EPC Delivery, Design Build Delivery, Design Bid Build Delivery, Agency CM Assistance

  • Ability to develop clients nationwide and travel as needed.
